Photographer four - Michael Kay

I have chosen to use Michael Kay as my fourth photographer as I really like his style of photography and use of both natural and plain backgrounds. This photographer also uses bright and natural food that stands out. This photographer will influence my work as I will use his style of blurring out the background and having the main foods in focus.
I think this is a really attractive and enticing photograph. I especially like the use of the blurred background. The pouring of the oil makes this photograph have a motion element which makes the photo more interesting than a standard food photograph. I would like to use this idea of pouring in my own work. The clashing colours of the yellow and red peppers compliment each other and give almost a man made feel to the image despite the colouring being entirely natural.

This is an interesting photograph due to the use of the leaves being left on and a natural looking pile of berries instead of  really uniform staged layout. I would like to photograph berries as they are naturally very bright, colourful and attractive. The totally plain white background allows them to show the full potent ion of the colour and shapes.

This photo uses an exagerated amount of filling inside the sandwich which makes it far more appealing than if this was a flat plain and boring sandwich. I also like the angle that the photographer has chosen to place the food at as it shows more of the sandwich and makes it enticing and decrotive.
Lastly Michael Kay uses a white background and a white bowl which gives the illusion that the bowl is not there despite the fact it is. Once again he has left the leaves and stalks on the cherries to give them a natural and fresh look.
Overall Michael Kay uses bright coloured foods against pale or white backgrounds which really make them stand out.

Influence - I will take influence from the plain white backgrounds so that the focal point is entirely on the food items itself. This photograph shows how I have taken influence from this photographers use of bright coloured food against a plain white background with bright and positive lighting highlighting the focal pout of the photograph. In my photograph I have used to foods which contrast in colour and shape which really stand out against the plain background. In the photographers work he has chosen to use a white bowl for the cherries so only they and the contrasting green leaves stand out against the background.
Summary - Overall Michael Kay uses bright coloured foods against pale or white backgrounds which really make them stand out. I find that some of this photographers work is quite basic and similar to other people work.
