Image within an image - Techniques

To create this image in an image technique...

First decide on a which images that you want in your photograph.

Next set up the camera on the tripod so that it will fit the whole of the object you are photographing.

Choose somewhere that has a continuing background to that it fits when the frame is rubbed out.

Start of by photographing the person holding the frame in front of the desired background.

Once you have taken a few of this picture get the model to move and continue taking photos without them there.

Upload the photos onto the computer and open them up in Photoshop.

Edit the levels and curves of both photos.

Drag the photo with the model in over the top of the one without.

Carefully rub out the area with in the frame to reveal the underneath image.

To create this image in an image technique...

Use the photograph of a person holding the frame or take another one.

Film a small sequence of a moving object this could be anything from a tree blowing in the wind or someone on the swing.

Edit the photo on Photoshop to be 1080 pixels and save it.

Upload the video to premier pro and change the sequence settings.

Upload the image to premier pro.

Drag the video to the timeline twice and add the effect of black and white to the second video and add the transition dissolve in between the two videos.

Drag the photo to the track underneath the video.

On the search bar type in pin and select the corner pin effect for the image.

Drag the corners of the image in to the corners of the frame and drag it to the end.

Render the video and export it to YouTube using the correct settings.

Sequencing - Techniques

To create this technique...

First decide on a sequence that you want your photograph to show.

Next set up the camera on the tripod so that it will fit the whole of the object you are photographing.

Start of by photographing the very first part of the movement or action.

Continue this with the next few movements until the end photographing each movement as it progresses.

Make sure when the movement or action is photographed you take a photograph of the location with the tripod still in the same place to start the sequence.

It is easiest if using people to start of with all of them and gradually take one away and then alter this during the editing process.

Upload the photos onto the computer and open them up in Photoshop.

Edit each photos levels and curves.

To create the photo film

Go onto the photo that starts the photo sequence.

Go on and set it so that the time line shows.

Each photo should then be dragged around the time line to be the correct length and place.

Upload to blogger.

To create the line of photo's

Open each photograph and edit the levels and curves.

Make each photo 5cm in length.

Open up a new page of 5.5cm times the number photos you want on your image.

Drag the photos onto the new page and line them up in the desired order.

Crop the photo so that it has an equal frame around the edge.

Save it and upload it to blogger.

Wide Angle and Close up - Work Diary

In this lesson we looked at wide angle photography and close up photography. With the wide angle photography it took quite a while to get the hang of, however once I understood it it got easier. With the close ups it was not very easy as the camera was very difficult to get to focus but when I took them how I would normally take a close up photo I was really pleased with the results. To improve both of these shoots I would go out of college and use a wider range of landscapes for the wide angle photographs and even more intricate objects for the close up. I would also consider buying a macro lens for my camera so that the photos would show more specific detail in the things that I photograph.
Wide Angle
In this photograph I was trying to use a wide angle to show the height and depth of the tree. I think this photo worked well as the height of the tree and the building is extenuated and is a nice and sharp image. The tree also creates a very dominating feel in this photograph.
Once again in this photo I was using the long angle to show how far the lavender is from the background. In the photo the size of the lavender is very large compared to the size of the building showing the distance between them. To improve this photograph I would just make sure that the very front piece of lavender was in focus or wast in the photograph. In the end I think this shoot had some nice photos.

Close up
I was really pleased with this photo because of the bright contrasting colours and that I managed to catch the bee before it flew of. This photograph also has the complimentary colours of yellow and purple which make a very attractive photo. To improve this photograph as a close up photo I would just have liked it to be slightly closer to the bee so that it would show even more detail.
I was really pleased with the outcome of this photograph because each petal and the centre of the flower is very sharp and in great detail. The background is completely green and blurred which makes a nice background for the in focus flower.

Minimum Depth of Field - Work Diary

In this lesson we looked at how to make the minimum depth of field in photography. I think this went well as soon as I got the hang of it however this took a few approaches to get right. I think Shannon made a good model for both the natural and the man made background because her dyed blue hair clashes with the natural and sort of goes with the modernness of the man-made backgrounds. Overall I think I ended up with some very nice photographs and would use this technique in my personal project.
In this photo I used the trees and nature as the background. I really like this photograph because of the fact that Shannon is in focus and the background is not showing the minimum depth of field. I think that this is an interesting photograph because it looks as if Shannon doesn't actually belong on the background that she is on. To improve this photograph I would try more different backgrounds to get more varied results.
Once again I like this photograph because Shannon is in focus and the background is not. I also think that the light has captured the colour and brightness of Shannon's eyes and with the attractive natural background is an eye pleasing photograph.

Image within an image - Work Diary

In this lesson we looked at the technique of an image within another image, and a video within an image that could either be relater/connected shown in the image or not as shown in the video. I really enjoyed this lesson because it was really fun to edit the video and the photographs.
In this photograph I got Taylor to hold up the frame in front of this wall as I found the flags to be colourful and pretty. I found that to improve this it would make more sense to get her to stand in front of something that actually connects with the background image as it slightly seems as if Taylor is holding up a photo which may be put on the wall however this is actually what would be there if she was not standing there. I do however think that the lighting and colours in the photo worked well and this would definitely be a technique that I would change and use again.

I really like my video in a photo because instead of just changing the colour of the background image I also changed the colour in the video itself so that it opposed what was happening to the colour of the photo. I also used a man made background which is durable and strong as the image and then used a natural and changing item for my video. The only thing I would do to improve this video is stop it from jumping slightly when the colour changes. If I where to do this again I would use a different photo and try connecting it to the video.

Sequencing - Work Diary

In this lesson we looked at the technique of sequencing. This shows the sequence of an action or a pattern that changes. I think this lesson went well however to improve it as a whole I would try and do more complicated and interesting sequences to make more interesting photography. I think the natural green background and the natural lighting worked well in his shoot.
In this photograph as it progresses one more person gets taken away from the photo making a gradual pattern until there is no one else. I think this works well because it is obvious that the photo is a progression because they are in the same place throughout the image. In order to improve this photograph, like I said I would try and make a more interesting pattern so that it differed more from the standard sequencing photographs. I would also make it more complicated by having a longer sequence with smaller more intricate movements.

I really like the idea of this photo film however to improve it I would try and make a more interesting sequence as it is very straight forward. It also jumps slightly meaning that the camera must have moved the slightest bit but to make it perfect I would like to ensure that this didn't happen. If I were to do more sequencing videos I would probably not use models but instead use something that I can arrange physically and layout exactly how I want it to end up.

Multiple Flash Photography - Image Bank

In this photograph the character of the man is shown in the photo through a series of facial expressions. Because of the black background it could be interpreted that we are seeing inside the man's head and this is his different characteristics through this photo.
In this photograph the movements and progress of the person walking can be seen through repetition of the photo at slightly further stages. The white clothing of the model can be seen clearly against the black background, however it is not obvious from this photograph that the person in the photo is a sword fighter.
In this photo it shows the whole process of the girl raising her arms to the top of her head and makes it seem as if she has multiple arms. The dark background works well however an even plainer one would mean that the image would contrast against it more as it gets a bit distracting.

In this photograph the movement of the gold ball is tracked along the photograph. The path of the ball can be seen because it is fainter than the actual photo of the ball. This is an interesting photograph because the potion path of the golf ball.
In this photograph the movement of the cards is shown in multiple images of it. This is an interesting photograph because the white, red and black of the cards stands out vibrantly against the plain sharp black background.
In this photograph the fast pace action of the sport is shown in this multiple flash image. The white costume contrasts against the black background and the blurs make it a very interesting and unique photograph. It would be impossible to recreate this exact photograph and seems as if the man is surrounded by spirits.

Multiple Imagery Photography - Image Bank

In this photograph the multiple imagery helps to show much of the detail of the model in the photograph. Unlike other photos the images are in no particular order and are at all different zoom lengths.
This photo shows the same plant from different angles and shots to show the different detail and shapes of the plant.
This multiple imagery shows all of the different delicate details that are on the watch including the hands and decritive detailing.
This image illustrates different moods of a person by different mouth expressions. To make the photo more interesting and eye catching the lips have got a lime green dust on just to bring out more colour in the photo and emphasise the shape of the lips.
In this multiple imagery photograph the complexity of the tree is show through many different angles and shots and at different close ups.
Lastly this photograph show the different details on the floor including different flowers, grass, stones and dirt. The flowers make this an interesting photograph.

Close up Photography - Image bank

In this close up photography all of the detail in the flowers centre and petals can be seen in sharp detail.  The background is blurred making the flower the obvious focal point of the photograph. This photograph show the delicacy of the flower.
In this close up photograph the centre of the flower is very detailed and intricate and makes the flower seem quite strong compared to the photo above.
In this close up photograph the centre of the flower is the centre of the image. In the flower you can see the pattern of the flower which makes a shape of the flower which makes an attractive photograph. This photo is so close up that the petals are cut out so the star is the main focus of the photograph.
In this photograph once again the background is blurred which makes the flower the main focal point of the photo. The purple contrasts against the green background and makes a pleasing photograph.
In this photo both the flower and the fly are the main focal point of the photograph. Because of the bright colours the audiences eye is drawn all around the photo. I really like this photograph because even the detail of the wings of the fly can be seen which are almost microscopic.
In this photograph the camera is so close up that the petals have been cut out and only the detail of the centre can be seen. This makes an attractive and interesting photograph because the colours are bright and vibrant and it has some unusual shapes and patterns.

My Project Brief

For my personal project I would like to study food photography. I would like to photograph all different types of attractive, bright and vibrant foods and also incorporate images into everyday scenes. I would like to try and photograph them in as many different ways as possible so that it is not just straight forward food photography.
I would also like to show the detail of various fruits and vegetables with very detailed close ups of the different skins and natural patterns that they have. I will try and show the textures of each food so that they look as life like and three dimensional as possible. I have many different ideas about how I will approach this project including both studio and location shoots.
My first idea is to take food as it comes and simply photographing it from interesting angles with different clashing lighting and backgrounds.
I would also like to take foods that you pour or has cream or purée poured onto it in order to create videos or photo videos to include in my project. I would like to cook and buy exotic foods that can be made attractive to photograph and use food to replace everyday items.
One other idea that I have had is to create a miniature scene out of food to photograph.
I will start this project with the more simpler of my ideas by taking photographs of the food in the studio in there natural forms and then I will progress onto my more complicated and exciting ideas. I will also plan each shoot a long time in advanced so that I have everything that I need to make the shoot successful.

Influential work

Christina Otero was the photographer of this photo to the left. I would like to take influence from her work as it is a really interesting and exciting way to photograph foods. However instead of just using fruit, as this photographer does I would like to try it with all different types of food.
Francesco Tonelli's work will also be an influence on my work as seen to the left. I like the style of this photographer because the way he photographs food is sort of old fashioned and natural.I will also take influence from the other photographs on this post as well as many others.

Close up - My Photos

Wide Angle Photography - My Photos

Wide Angle Photography - Image Bank

This photograph shows wide angle because the scale and depth of the building is shown. The perspective is exaggerated and it is as if you are looking up at a giant building.
Because the photo has been taken using a wide lens from this angle of the Eiffel tower it exaggerates the size of the bottom in comparison to the top. This is a clever photograph because it  shows the size and structure of the tower where as other photo's do not usually capture this.
In this photograph the wide angle makes it seem as if the bird is the size of all of london because it is closer to the camera than the buildings exaggerating the size of the bird.
In this photograph the wide angle distortion shows the whole of the town in an interesting way which exaggerates the size of the place. The photo appears to bend in over the audience giving them the feeling that they are being overpowered by the huge buildings.
