Dictionary definition

Food photography is a still life specialization of commercial photography, aimed at producing attractive photographs of food for use in advertisements, packaging, menus or cookbooks. Professional food photography is a collaborative effort, usually involving an art director, a photographer, a food stylist, a prop stylist and their assistants

The dessert is photographed against a black background so only really the raspberries stand up against it. The red and brown tones also clash. The lighting of the photograph is sort like the cake has a spot light on it making it enticing and the main focal point of the photograph.
 The shape, colour and size of the fruit shown have been used on the face of the model in order to make a more interesting and unique photograph. The yellow hair, lips and eye makeup clash stand out against the pale white skin of the model.


This photograph shows the food item central to the photo framed by the light grey background which appears to be a natural stone surface. The foods are all spread out in an organised way and would be appealing to many people. The orange is  shown cut up which would almost make the audiences mouth water as it is almost ready to eat.
 This appears to be healthy and very colourful. This photograph would make the audience feel more enthusiastic and positive about healthy foods. The background is blurred however would be assumed to be a natural home setting.

My definition
Food photography is the art of taking photographs of food in order to create attractive images either to promote to, entice or entertain the audience. The food can be arranged exactly how the photograph feels best shows the features of the food.
